Instructions
1. Make the Caramel Sauce:
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the sugar, stirring constantly until it turns an amber color.
- Add the butter and stir until fully melted.
- Slowly pour in the heavy cream while stirring (be careful as it may bubble).
- Remove from heat, stir in sea salt, and let cool.
2. Prepare the Sponge Cake:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line three 9-inch cake pans with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
