For the filling:

1 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup cornstarch

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 cups water

4 egg yolks

1/2 cup lemon juice

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 tablespoon lemon zest

For the meringue:

4 egg whites

1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar

1/2 cup granulated sugar
