For the Meatballs

  • 1 pound lean ground bef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • ½ cup bread crumbs
  • ½ cup diced onion
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, minced
  • ⅓ cup grated parmesan cheese

For the Loaded Mashed Potatoes

  • 3 cups mashed potatoes (about 5 potatoes, if using homemade)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, minced
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper

For the Marinara Sauce

  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • ¼ cup onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 4 large basil leaves, minced (or 1 tablespoon dried basil)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon thyme
  • ¼ teaspoon oregano

For the Topping

  • 12 slices mozzarella cheese
